A Decade Of Heartbreak

Mike Brown: The Man Behind the Bengals' Success

A Decade of Heartbreak

Ten years ago, the Cincinnati Bengals came within one game of winning their first Super Bowl. But a heartbreaking loss to the San Francisco 49ers still haunts the team's owner, Mike Brown.

Brown has been the owner and general manager of the Bengals since 1991. He's seen the team through some tough times, but also some great ones. The Bengals have won six division championships under Brown's leadership, and they've made it to the playoffs 14 times. But the Super Bowl has always eluded them. And Brown knows that the pain of that loss will never truly go away. "It's something that you never forget," Brown said. "It's always there in the back of your mind." Brown is a private person, but he opened up to me about the Super Bowl loss and how it's affected him. He said that he still watches the game film sometimes, and he still gets emotional thinking about it. "It's hard to watch," Brown said. "But I do it because I want to learn from it. I want to know what we could have done differently." Brown said that the loss has made him a better owner and general manager. He's more determined than ever to bring a Super Bowl to Cincinnati. "We're going to get there," Brown said. "I promise you that."
